Need more noise in the Blog.
Let me reiterate, the blog is to complement the egroup not to compete. If the 79ers refuse or cannot use this blog than let it fail. New technologies do not always succeed. Nice to give it chance.
I do agree Gingyeen.
It has better graphical display besides the threading of discussion.
There is no fear of missed attachments and photos.
But here the learning curve to post is much steeper than the egroup. A site is as good as the posting. Failure to get the 79ers to register and post will spelt the death of this Blog.
There is another reason for the blog.
To eventually replace the class web site.
The web site is one to many.
The Blog is many to many.
No need of emails, just browse and comments.

Maybe these few pointers can help.
You need to download both hello and picasa from google.
Of course you have to register using your userid from the blog so as to be able to post later.
hello is available in
www.hello.com
picasa is available in
www.picasa.com
install both.
picasa is a photo organiser.
hello is needed to transfer the photo to the blogspot.
procedure:
open picasa and hello,
choose the photo to transfer,
click send hello icon at the extreme lower left corner of the screen.
hello wil pop up.
choose bloggerbot
click send
you must write title for the photo in the message section on the lower right of the screen.
the word 'publish' will then popup at the extreme left lower corner of the screen.
